About the Role

We are looking to recruit a new Publisher Representative, to promote and sell Higher Education products so that divisional targets are met, and market share is increased.  You will aim to achieve sales target growth for the defined territory as determined by HE sales budget, identify and visit all key decision makers for each push list title at universities in the territory, establishing a good relationship with them so that adoption opportunities can be developed effectively.  You will help achieve complete market coverage for OUP textbooks across the territory by sampling each push list title to key decision-makers, develop and demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of products, to take full advantage of all sales opportunities.

Other duties include:

  • Maintain good relationships with all lecturers within territory to win adoptions and gather market knowledge to feedback
  • Identify and develop direct-to-institution sales opportunities, working with the institution to deliver their required OUP content in either print or digital formats.
  • Maintain regular and effective communication with the local Trade and HE Sales Representatives so that sales and market feedback is shared, and bookshop ordering responsibilities are agreed for the main buying periods.
  • Support adoptions with sell-through initiatives such as first lecture presentations.
  • Keep Salesforce updated to aid campus calling and targeting, and to give Editorial, Marketing and Sales Manager an overview of your territory.
  • Provide feedback on push list titles, the external market and competitors to contribute to the development of sales and marketing plans.

This role covers North London and you are expected to travel 2 - 4 days a week visiting customers in the area.  We will provide you with a company car and you will also be included in a generous sales bonus scheme.  We expect the successful candidate to come into the Oxford infrequently to work collaboratively with the team.

About You

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Developed sales skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of the higher education publishing sector is highly desirable
  • Full UK driving licence

This is a 6 month Fixed Term Contract with the possibility of an extension, covering maternity leave.  As an internal candidate, when applying for a secondment, you must discuss the opportunity and gain approval with your line manager/department in advance of submitting an application.
