Job description

Our client is an evolving Group organisation with a head office based in Carlisle. They have a vacancy for a Purchase Ledger Supervisor / Manager join them on a fixed term basis for 12 months to cover maternity leave.
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the Purchase Ledger Supervisor / Manager will manage the Purchase Ledgers for 3 trading companies within the group and lead the team to ensure accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices, credits and payments. You will work closely and build strong relationships with the finance team; offering assistance where needed to ensure an effective and efficient service. You will also work with managers and other stakeholders across the company to ensure the processing and payment of supplier invoices is effective.
Typical duties will include:

  • Line management of Purchase Ledger team (currently 2.5 FTE), including training, reviews, holiday and absence management.
  • Supervision of Purchase Ledger workload to ensure accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices and credits to meet month-end close deadlines.
  • Assist with continual review and improvement of Purchase Ledger processes and systems and implementation of improvements.
  • Processing of supplier invoices and credit notes into Pegasus Opera.
  • Matching invoices received to purchase orders, goods received notes, and supporting transactional data.
  • Liaising with managers for approval of supplier invoices in line with authorisation procedures and limits.
  • Communicating with suppliers to resolve invoicing or payment queries.
  • Completing supplier statement reconciliations. Investigating and resolving outstanding creditor items.
  • Supporting and assisting with supplier payment runs for review and authorisation.
  • Ensuring that all activities comply with relevant finance policies and procedures.


What you\'ll need to succeed
Previous experience in a similar role including high volume Purchase Ledger
Min AAT level 4 or equivalent
Excellent communication skills, ability to prioritise workloads and work to tight deadlines
Team player and hands-on approach
Excellent systems experience

Full time fixed term role Monday - Thursday 8.30-5pm, Friday 8.30-4.30pm
