Having a good standard of education including maths and English, a good telephone manner you will have a professional, first-class customer first approach with the ability to confidently work both well in a team and using your own initiative. You will need to take a pro-active role to ensure appropriate stock is purchased at the most competitive price. The main duties of the role include:


  • Professionally, and effectively liaising with colleagues at branches and dealing with any purchase/order queries as and when they arise through to completion.
  • Working accurately and with an eye for detail when placing purchase orders against the branch requests.
  • Obtain best price quotes from suppliers and sourcing best prices from alternative suppliers where necessary.
  • Effectively dealing with supplier queries by telephone and / or email and where necessary chasing suppliers for overdue parts.
  • Preparing and raising purchase orders for goods and services and ensuring all data is entered correctly on the inhouse purchase system.
  • To use the stock forecasting system (IMA) to ensure stock is order on time.
  • Having responsibility for certain suppliers / products you will be able to interrogate the system to ensure we maintain adequate stock levels to meet the needs of the business and our customers.
  • To check order confirmations against requested delivery dates and check pricing.


The successful candidate will


  • Ideally have some experience of working in a purchasing environment previously however this is not essential. Training for the role will be provided including the potential to work towards a qualification in purchasing will be provided.
  • You will have a strong administration background with excellent attention to detail.
  • Have excellent communication and relationship skills with the ability to speak with people at all levels.
  • Having good analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Have strong IT skills including Word & Excel.
