Summary of Job:
This role requires a highly motivated and experienced individual with a proven track record in manufacturing and engineering procurement. The ideal candidate will have a success in procurement, strong negotiation skills, deep understanding of the manufacturing and engineering landscape and expected to drive rapid change within the supply chain processes.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Oversee the purchasing process, including issuing purchase orders, managing delivery schedules, and ensuring timely receipt of materials and services
- Understanding technical requisitions and interpreting engineering documents
- Identify and implement process improvements for the overall procurement key function relating to Engineering, Production and Finance.
- Managing and mentoring a team of purchasing professionals and providing coaching to develop their skills
- Manage vendor performance including supplier development to support KPI achievements
- Responsible for determining liability, disposition and corrective action to be taken on supplier non-conformance report (NCRs)
- Perform cost analysis in conjunction with budget costs and make improvement recommendations
- Strive to continuously build knowledge and skills about the products, processes and share expertise with the team.
- Effective written and verbal communication with internal departments on financial, commercial, technical and quality issues.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with other departments (e.g., engineering, production and finance)
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs Grade 5 (equivalent grade C) including Maths & English
- Degree in supply chain management and/or CIPS desirable
- Minimum 8 years experience in supply chain management
- Minimum 3 years purchasing management experience
- Engineering technical knowledge desirable
- Knowledge of or proficiency in the use of Microsoft packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access) essential
- Proven track record of being accountable for procurement in a manufacturing environment
- Understanding and experience of the manufacturing lifecycle
- Experience of strategically liaising with stakeholders and implementing organisation goals

Hours of work
Office hours enable flexi-time working, covering a 37-hour week. Flexible start and finish times are available with core hours which must be covered each day. Monday to Thursday covers an 8-hour shift and Friday covers a 5-hour shift. Further details will be given at interview stage.
