Purchasing Buyer

Major Recruitment are seeking an experienced Purchasing Buyer to join their team who's head office is based in Leeds. With a dedication to delivering outstanding packaging solutions across the UK, our clients work closely with their clients to ensure they are using the smallest amounts of packaging possible to wrap and protect their goods, so that they reach their destination in perfect condition.
The Purchasing Buyer will be a key team player within the purchasing team, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing goods and services to meet the company's operational requirements
You will be responsible for sourcing and negotiating with suppliers to secure the best possible delas. The Purchasing Buyer will also hold responsibility conducting market research and analysing data to identify trends and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities of the Purchasing Buyer:
- Sourcing and negotiating with suppliers to secure the best possible prices and terms
- Conducting market research and analysing data to identify trends and opportunities
- Developing and managing relationships with suppliers to ensure timely and quality deliveries
- Creating and managing purchase orders, contracts, and other procurement documentation
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure procurement requirements are met
- Managing inventory levels and optimizing inventory management processes
- Identifying and implementing cost-saving initiatives

Skills required to be a Purchasing Buyer:
- CIPS level 2 in Supply Chain Management, Procurement
- Knowledge of tendering and purchasing of packaging products or similar
- Procurement experience under the European Community regulations
- 2+ years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in a fast-paced industrial or commercial environment
- Strong understanding of procurement principles and practices
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel, and procurement software (e.g. SAP)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
