Job Description

We are looking for a QA Manager to join our Quality Assurance team within the health division of NEC Software Solutions.
As QA Manager you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our products meet the highest quality standards before reaching our customers.

This role involves overseeing the entire QA process across our Referral, Screening and Registries products as well as overseeing the Automation and Performance Testing team.

You will set the strategic direction of the QA function, ensuring that the Quality Assurance team has the processes and tools they need to do their job efficiently and effectively.

You will manage a team of test specialists, setting objectives that align with the needs of the business and driving continual improvement.

You will report to the Head of Delivery, providing regular progress updates and highlighting issues that need to be addressed.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a keen eye for detail to identify and address any issues that may impact on our ability to deliver high quality products.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and Manage the Quality Assurance team

  • Oversee the activities of the QA team. Recruit, train, and mentor QA analysts. Provide technical leadership and guidance as needed.
  • Ensure that the team have the necessary resources required.
  • Communicate key objectives and cascade important information to the QA team.

Set the strategic direction for the whole Quality Assurance team

  • Design, develop, and execute quality assurance policies and procedures. Identify key QA metrics and ensure that the team adheres to QA best practices.

  • Ensure that the necessary infrastructure is in place to meet the needs of the team

Quality Control and Assurance

  • Ensure products meet quality standards and customer expectations.

  • Ensure that Functional, Performance and Security Testing is performed as appropriate.

Set team objectives and monitor progress towards their completion

  • Set team objectives that align with the strategic direction of the Quality Assurance department.

  • Hold regular 1-2-1s with the Leads for Screening, Registries and Automation and Performance.

Process Improvement

  • Continuously evaluate and improve QA processes to increase efficiency. Identify areas of weakness and seek to address them.

  • Ensure that a Root Cause Analysis is performed upon release to identify common issues across all teams.

Contribute to tender responses / Requests for information

  • Answer questions relevant to the testing function in tender documentation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Product Manager and Development Manager to ensure that quality is maintained throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Contribute to the Clinical Safety Process (DCB 0129)

Risk and Issue Management.

  • Address quality issues that are brought to your attention and ensure that mitigation plans are implemented effectively.

Compliance and Documentation

  • Ensure all testing procedures comply with our QMS, ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 13485, industry standards and regulations.

  • Participate in both internal and external audits

Reporting and Monitoring

  • Report progress and highlight issues to the Management team and Head of Delivery

  • Monitor progress across all projects.

Qualifications

Required technical skills and experience

  • Extensive experience in Quality Assurance

  • Demonstrable proven experience in a managerial role of a large disparate team

  • Proficient in QA methodologies, tools, and processes (e.g., Agile, Scrum)

  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and quality certifications relevant to the industry (ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 13485)

  • ISTQB/ISEB Foundation certification or equivalent

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps

Required soft skills and experience

  • Excellent leadership and team managerial skills

  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to high quality and accuracy.

Desirable skills and experience

  • ISTQB Advanced Level Test Manager Certification

  • Experience with C# and Visual Studio

  • Experience working with SQL databases

  • Prior experience with Performance Testing
