Role Overview:
We are seeking Qualified Social Workers for our Leaving Care service, supporting young people who are looked after (LAC) and Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC). You'll be working with the Permanence Team, taking over cases at the most appropriate juncture for the young person. You'll be leading in the identification of needs, pathway planning, and offering direct support to young individuals to help them achieve their goals.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified Social Worker with relevant degree or diploma in social work.
- Registered with the appropriate regulatory body (e.g., Social Work England).
- Experience working with looked after children and or similar service.
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a designated caseload of young people in line with statutory policies, consistently upholding high professional standards.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of young people, considering their well-being.
- Ensure review and supervision of care arrangements for looked-after children, producing necessary reports and documentation.
- Develop robust assessment frameworks and Pathway Plans that identify needs, set clear goals, and enlist necessary support.
- Assess and address the mental, physical, and sexual health needs of young people, assisting in accessing essential services.
- Help young people acquire necessary life skills, knowledge, and confidence for independent living, including financial management.
- Provide guidance and support for young people seeking asylum or dealing with unresolved immigration status.
- Effectively utilize financial support within approved departmental budgets for young individuals.
