We have a fantastic locum social work opportunity based within a Children's Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children team in the Wigan area. The local authorities are experiencing a rise in the number of Separated Young People (UASC) being referred to Wigan. The increase means that Brief Enquiries and then Age Assessments are required to be undertaken within tight timescales.

Responsibilities:
- The post holder will act as an advocate for young people who are survivors of modern slavery, trafficking and trauma ,supporting them to address and overcome any social, personal, physical or mental health issues they may experience and empowering them with daily routines and activities
- Assisting young people with gaining access to benefit entitlements, working with care leavers without recourse to public funds, supporting young people to access health care provision, move on accommodation ands education services
- Completing Age Assessments
- Liaising with other social work departments and external agencies
- Support the children/young people through the legal processes
To be considered for the Social Worker role:
- 1+ years experience of working within a similar (UASC) social work setting
- Good knowledge of the needs of separated young people
- Experience of completing age assessments
- Social Work England Registration
