Quality Control Team Leader

Full time permanent contract: working 4 on 4 off 12 hour shifts.
We are looking for a Quality Control Team Leader to join us at our Muller Telford site to work as part of the Laboratory team. As a Quality Control Team Leader you will be responsible for ensuring that products meet the correct specifications and are of the highest standards, prior to dispatching to our customers. As a Quality Control Team Leader you will report into the Quality Control Manager and occasionally may see you deputising for them and working with Production Management in resolution of ongoing Quality issues and investigation studies within the factory to achieve Root cause.
Key responsibilities:
  • Report and record any hazards, accidents, potential accidents in the Production areas and Laboratories.
  • Responsible for leading Food Safety and Quality Compliance on shift.
  • Mentoring, training and developing team members. Ensure continued development of Specialists and Shift Quality Compliance Technicians.
  • Complete 1-2-1's and PDP's to ensure the team remain high performing and engaged.
  • Organising routine activities and scheduled work in both the Chemistry and Microbiology Laboratories to ensure all tasks are completed in timely manner.
  • Assessing data/results from both Laboratory testing and audits to highlight any trends/ improvements enabling to drive Quality KPI's.
  • Conduct investigations and root cause analysis to identify corrective and preventative actions for any non-conforming product and raw material.
  • Completing internal audits according to audit schedule and supporting Quality team during external audits.
  • Maintains CLAS compliance within the lab areas at all times, by ensuring paperwork is completed, accurate, and filed. Leading cleaning standards, and adhering to policies
  • Accountable for own shift teams' performance on External Proficiency including Process & Production.
  • Leads validation projects to ensure continued innovation within the labs.
  • Carry out testing of ingredients and finished products, and collection and preparation of samples for external analysis, ensuring the schedule is adhered to.
What we are looking for in a Quality Control Team Leader:
  • Previous experience in Dairy or other Food Manufacturing.
  • Hold a scientific qualification/background in Chemistry and/or Microbiology or proven industry experience.
  • Experience in internal auditing and writing technical reports.
  • Experience of leading a small team and the ability to motivate in a busy environment.
  • A keen eye for detail and ability to work on own initiative.
  • Good communication skills; written and verbal.
  • The ability to work under pressure.
  • Pro-active approach to continued professional development of self and of team.
  • Ability to make informed decisions.
