Do you have experience of leading quality functions within a product development arena, and are you seeking a new contract position in Coventry? Jonathan Lee Recruitment is supporting a niche vehicle manufacturer in the development of a new vehicle platform seeking Quality Engineer, to support upfront R&D activities on a contract basis.
As a Quality Engineer, you will work with all Engineering Departments to ensure product quality is realised from initial concept phase through all design, development and onto launch working closely with strategic suppliers.
The Quality Engineer will have responsibilities for:
- Develop and implement quality plans, standards and procedures for new products across all areas of the vehicle from design, manufacturing transition (with suppliers) and validation
- Coordinating and developing DFMEAs within the team, support supplier DFMEA development and implementation
- Lead all APQP, PPAP and Part Maturation activities during new vehicle development programmes
- Collaborate with cross-functional and supplier teams to coach, resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions using industry standard practices (8D etc)
To apply for this Quality Engineer role, you will need relevant experience in a similar role supporting new product development. You will also require the following:
- Experience of working with Engineering Teams and Suppliers during the upfront design and development phases of new vehicle development programmes
- Up-to-date on industry trends and best practices relating to quality control and systems to include IATF 16949
- Knowledge of leading activities such as DFMEA’s, APQP and PPAP sign off’s
- Experience in design reviews and risk assessments to ensure quality is incorporated into product design
- Experience in working closely with suppliers to validate product processes while ensuring quality standards across both product and processes are achieved during the design and development phase of the product through to launch
- Exposure of lean principles and systems such as Six Sigma would be advantageous to support the product development phases within the new vehicle programmes
