JOB TITLE: Quality Engineer Team Manager
SALARY: £86,964 - £102,310
LOCATION(S): Edinburgh
HOURS: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our Edinburgh site.

Working within the Protection Platform you’ll be part of a team working towards delivering digital journeys to our customers. The Platform’s purpose is to create an industry leading experience to help our customers with their insurance needs. We strive to achieve this goal by improving our customer journey with new features and tech, simplifying our customer journeys, and improving infrastructure.
The role of the Quality Engineer Team Manager will be to ensure our products meet the highest quality standards through the efficient use of test automation, attention to detail, Agile delivery, and a focus on the customer while managing & coaching a team of Quality Engineers. This is both a people manager role (50%) and a hands-on role (50%).
The ideal candidate will drive quality throughout the change lifecycle whilst continually challenging, motivating, mentoring and supporting their team. Undertakes multiple types of testing of complex code to deliver products that are fit for purpose and meet the quality standards that our customers expect, based on deep domain and technical expertise. They will be an advocate for Quality Engineering, providing a voice to Quality Engineers within the team, identifying and supporting their teams in resolution of impediments and issues as well as continually developing themselves with industry best practice and tooling. In a leadership role with a passion for mentoring and coaching people in a "player-coach" model.

What you’ll need:
  • You will be expected to spend up to half your time managing colleagues. Hence a passion for encouraging, mentoring & motivating those around you is essential.
  • A solid Quality Assurance and Quality Engineering background with a good knowledge of Test Lifecycle, Test Models, Best Practices, Test Benchmarking and Test Tools. This includes a good awareness of Test Data and Environments.
  • Be able to project and implement "Automation first" approach in every phase of software delivery process that aids speed to market, better quality and reduces risks.
  • Experience with toolsets including Selenium, UFT, ALM, Cucumber, GitHub, Postman; with a willingness to learn and develop those skills that will be needed for success in the future.
  • Work in cross-disciplinary feature teams delivering exciting customer driven solutions and high-quality software.
  • Showcase excellent interpersonal and communications skills whilst expertly working across the project lifecycle to ensure software operates as intended.
  • Exercise responsibility, autonomy and judgement within broad, but well-defined parameters.
  • Work in a highly collaborative way to complete assigned work, showcase progress and address problems that are well defined, complex, and often non-routine.
  • Be a quick learner with a growth mindset adapting to new technologies being used within Lloyds and the wider industry whilst bringing those around them on the same journey.
  • Significant problem solving, fixing and analytical skills.
  • Experience of leading test teams, test management, Coordination of testing across our partners and mentoring junior team members.
