JOB TITLE: DevOps Engineer Team Manager
SALARY: £86,964 - £102,310
LOCATION(S): Edinburgh
HOURS: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending a minimum two days per week, or 40% of our time in our Edinburgh office.
About this opportunity:
We're seeking to recruit a strong DevOps Engineer Team Manager within the Protection Platform to support our continued journey onto the OCP. This is a key time in our journey, and we need people who enjoy shaping the direction and success of a team whilst leading on delivering some initiatives. You will be responsible for driving the efforts & improvements to our OCP implementation, build, support and improve our tools for continuous integration, release management and provide support to feature teams implementing solutions across a wide range of digital services for Customers and Colleagues. You will manage people, supporting and growing their careers, and build teams that always deliver.

What you’ll need:
This is a hybrid role, you will need to be hands on but you will also be expected to spend up to half your time managing colleagues. Hence a passion for encouraging, mentoring & motivating those around you is essential.
Strong hands on expereince with the following:
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (RedHat OpenShift), Oracle Database and Oracle Middleware, Writing, executing and maintaining Ansible (Playbooks, Roles, etc.), Designing and writing Jenkins pipelines, Git, Docker.
  • Very strong DevOps skill set with expertise in Continue Integration and Continue Deployments using tools like Jenkins, Spinnaker, Nexus, and Git.
  • Experience working with package management tools like pnpm, npm, maven, gradle, helm...
  • Experience working with agile development methods & tooling e.g. Kanban, Jira & Confluence, and working as part of an agile team.
  • Strong knowledge of modern software development toolsets including Cloud hosting, Web App development, API’s, DevOps Continuous Integration and Delivery.
  • Experience in at least two (but not all!) of the following programming languages: JavaScript, Groovy, Scala, Python, PowerShell, or Bash/Shell, Java
  • Provisioning components and services such as Helm Templates.
  • The ability to liaise and collaborate with Delivery Managers, Software and Quality Engineers
  • Knowledge and deployment of containerized applications/microservices architecture
  • Able to take initiative and help upskill team members

And any experience of these would be really useful
  • Understanding of security principles within cloud technologies.
  • Experience of Urban Code Deploy.
  • Experience with a configuration and deployment management tools is an advantage. e.g., Terraform, Chef, Puppet.
  • API management platform (Apigee, API Connect), Dynatrace, Adobe Analytics and General Data Analytics.
  • Experience in public clouds (Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and/or AWS)
