QUALITY MANAGER - PACKAGING

Salary Guide: £45K (Depending on Experience) + Bonus + 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays + Death in Service + EAP Help + Cycle to Work + Technology Scheme + Pension 5% Employee / 3% Employer
Hours: 9am - 5pm (Mon to Thurs) & 9am - 4pm (Fri) - There is flexibility around this which can be discussed/agreed
Our client is a global manufacturer of corrugated packaging products, they are a forward thinking company with exciting growth plans who have and are making huge investment within the company.
They are currently looking for a Quality Manager to join their Technical Department. You will be responsible for the overall site quality including effective handling of all complaints, KPI reporting (internally and externally), setting standards, continuous improvement, project work, monitoring trends, training and driving culture change. You will be reporting to the Technical Manager.
** Ideally looking for someone with Corrugated Packaging or Food Packaging and/or Food experience due to the relevant regulations **
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing a team of 3
- Authority to stop production and processes that are deemed unsafe or pose a risk to product quality, safety or which can impact the environment
- Authority to reject any supplier or material that poses a risk to product quality, safety or which can impact the environment
- Authority to place defect stock on hold to prevent this reaching the customer
- Ensure product quality, safety and legality exceed customer's expectations and drives towards a zero-defect culture
- Building strong customer relationships both directly and through the Account Managers to ensure efficient reporting, feedback, collaboration and managing expectations
- Full ownership of Quality reporting and KPI's for all relevant stakeholders.
- Objectively setting targets/KPI's
- A key member of the team, maintaining and reporting KPI's, driving and embedding the continuous improvement structure into everyday quality activities and culture for all areas of the business
- Focus on root cause analysis, corrective & preventative actions, and proactive improvements to testing, procedures and other protocols, is embedded as a key driver of quality improvement
- To manage the Quality team, ensuring the team are delivering value and support to wider Technical team and manufacturing teams by driving a quality and food-safety culture
- Liaising with external sources and the Compliance Manager to ensure a collaborative approach to all customer and company standards which ensure product quality, safety and legality
- Heavily involved with all aspects of digitalisation initiatives to improve communication, data collection, efficiencies, and culture This will include implementing/improving systems
- To act as the company's primary quality liaison, competently and professionally representing the company with customers, suppliers and external bodies as required
- Ensuring all complaints (external, internal non-conformances and suppliers as required) are effectively managed to root cause, with preventative and corrective actions implemented and monitored through the WCO structure
- Maintaining Compliance Quest (CQ) and all other relevant reporting systems
- Maintaining all customer portals as required
- To implement and drive continuous improvement activities for the site
- Working to agreed site KPI's, identifying trends and risk, developing sustainable solutions whilst ensuring the commitment and buy-in of all relevant personnel and continual monitoring
- To been seen as a driver of change by motivating and inspiring all personnel in quality matters, instilling a quality culture to be proud of
- To train, develop and coach personnel, ensuring your own personal development, and that competencies develop in line with business needs
- To be focused on all aspects of site compliance, from GMP to more specific BRCGS, ISO9001, ISO14001 and FSC/PEFC standards which ensures product quality, safety and legality
- Working with the Compliance Manager and all departments to review and update the internal IMS (Integrated Management System)
- Conduct traceability exercises and mock product recalls in line with the standards
- To engage with the site HACCP team and ensure HACCP is delivering improvements in product safety and legality, based on risk
- To work closely with the NPD & Design team to ensure that new product launches (including trials) meet product quality, safety and legality expectations and are introduced into production in a streamlined efficient manner
- Liaise with the WCO E&T (Education & Training) Pillar to collaborate on all activities that affect product quality, safety and legality
- Assisting and supporting the Compliance Manager in all customer requests relevant to product quality and quality systems, such as questionnaires, SEDEX and QADEX
- Assisting the Supply Chain team to manage incoming raw material checks, establish and monitor tolerance limits
