Jackson Hogg are now recruiting for a thriving, high quality construction business based in Middlesbrough. With the business now taking multiple variations, the opportunities for growth over the next 12-24 months will be and exciting development for any ambitious individual looking for their next step.
As a Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for the overall financial performance of projects, ensuring variations are priced and actioned accordingly, monitoring cost forecasting and procure all the services for subcontract works for the duration of projects. This role is reporting directly into the Commercial Manager.
You will be an experienced Quantity Surveyor who is looking to work within a fast-paced business and wanting to grow and progress within a business over the next few years. You will have experience within the construction industry and hold a strong working knowledge of the industry with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with the internal team and external businesses/contractors.
Main Roles & Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review tender documents, bills of quantities, subcontracts, bills of quantities and any other contract or subcontract documentation necessary to complete the role sufficiently.
- Accurately price and forecast the overall project costing and keeping track of the financial status of individual projects and contractors.
- Keep track of changes to the design of the work, the construction of the work and adjusting project costings as necessary.
- Liaise with clients and other construction professionals including site managers, project managers, engineers, and designers.
- Reporting and documenting all site-based processes and events within a timely manner.
- Review and provide feedback on favourable contract and subcontract conditions.
- Monitoring profit and loss, including recording costs incurred, future costs, producing summaries, showing proof of monies going in and out and monitoring risks moving forward.
- Measuring construction works which will include of recording progress and valuing of work based on preagreed contract rates.
- Attending client meetings frequently to advise on any commercial issues that arise.
Key Skills & Requirements:
- Must hold experience in a Quantity Surveyor position within the construction industry and hold a strong commercial knowledge of the industry.
- Hold a strong teamwork ethic to work alongside and support other staff members within the QS team.
- Strong numerical and communication skills.
- Knowledge of MS Office products including Excel, Outlook and Word.
