- Ascertain and establish sectional budgets for the different structures, taken from the overall budget
- Track and monitor sub-contract plant and labour, measure and report against the budget.
- Liaise and provide commercial support to the internal buying department in the procurement of materials and any sub-contracted elements.
- Prepare, submit and agree monthly applications for payments as well as monitoring and ensuring prompt payment.
- Prepare, agree and submit payment notices for Sub-contractors within contractual timeframes.
- Lead and manage the change control process and ensure all variations to the contract are identified and priced to ensure full recovery, including where necessary assisting in producing EOT applications and associated L & E claims. Negotiate and agree value of all variations with the client organisation.
- Manage and maximise positive project cashflow including producing the weekly report, whilst monitoring, analysing and managing all internal and external project costs.
- Provide commercial and contractual advice and support to the Project Team.
- Ensure all contractual notices and procedures within the contract are adhered to and fulfilled.
- Prepare, submit and where appropriate agree the final application for payment to the client whilst commercial reports and CVRs.
- Qualified to degree level or equivalent in Quantity Surveying; working towards membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
- Sound level of practical QS experience in a progressive construction environment, managing packages c£5m+ in value, ideally dealing with structural steelwork
- Be familiar with, and a competent user of, Microsoft Office products.
- Have an understanding of, and be able to navigate around, structural steel Trimble Connect models.
- Sound negotiator with a reliable commercial acumen who can influence and build solid relationships with people
- Be able to work on multiple activities at any one time without the need for close supervision
- Be able to accurately analyse data, and clearly articulate reasoning/insight from that data
- Can demonstrate a clear understanding of period cost reporting and comparison with budget/forecast
- Possesses a keen eye for detail and ensures that highest standards of quality are maintained.
- Dedicated problem solver who can identify potential issues early and develop appropriate solutions.
- Meticulous record keeper who is committed to securing full contract entitlements.
- Have a diligent approach to the preparation of information to customers and to the checking of information provided by others
- Development of positive, cooperative and collaborative relationships with all the interested parties across WHL and its Customers.
- Attendance and active participation in meetings as required and the provision of management information as required.
