Job Title:  Rail Engine Operator

Salary: £13.95 per hour

Location: Shrewsbury, Shropshire

Flexible working arrangements will be considered for this role, in-line with the needs of the business.

Job Summary

As a Rail Engine operator you will be working on both new and remanufactured products for our Network Rail customers. You will be working on an inline 6 Cylinder Engine from bare castings and individual components into a finished product.

The role will see many different takes undertaken, from strip and assessing of an Engine, to sub assembly and potentially the full Engine build.

Additional Info

  • On the job training will be given for every aspect of this job role, which will also include online training. A full training plan will be established, with regular reviews taking place to ensure the successful candidate is developing as planned.

What You Will Do

  • Using Measuring Equipment for the Vetting of Remanufactured Components

  • Visual Inspection of Remanufactured Components

  • Completing Vett Reports

  • Accurately Ordering 50/50 Items

  • Managing Parts for Salvage

  • Suggest process improvements.

  • Crack Testing Crank Case

What You Have

  • The ability work with SWES documentation, written and verbal instructions.

  • A knowledge of transmissions, this is a desirable attribute.

  • Good experience with hand, air and measuring tools.

  • Engineering, workshop or manufacturing background

  • The attitude to develop both personally and professionally in a fast paced, continually growing team.

What You Will Get

The successful candidate will be joining an established with a lot of experience, working on product for the Rail Company. In this role you will get the opportunity to develop your skills on a number of different processes which is reflective in not only being able to climb the pay grades at that level but sets you up for future career development within Caterpillar.  At the end of the training plan, the individual will be trained up in one of the most complicated yet exciting products at the Shrewsbury site.
