The force Rape and Serious Sexual Offences Team (RASSO) have an opportunity for six people to undertake a new role within the department on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract. Please note - For internal candidates - Secondment opportunities may also be available but would require Line Manager approval.
RASSO investigations are one of the most challenging and impactive crimes that effect a victim or survivor which can often have life lasting effects but can also be very rewarding when offenders are brought to justice and victims receive closure.
What you’ll be doing
- You will be the point of contact for victims and where available attend the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) with investigating officers to build a rapport from the outset of the investigation with the victim.
- You will Assess requirements of victims and provide adequate support, advice and guidance, making referrals where applicable to support services and partner agencies.
- You will support the investigating officers in relation to obtaining victim’s phones, submissions to DFU and management of the returning the phone to the victim as per ADR guidelines.
- You will undertake general administrative duties which include: -
Word processing
Formatting documents
Maintaining spreadsheets and record management systems
The must haves
- You must be an excellent communicator, able to speak about sensitive issues with victims of crime.
- Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft
- You must have proven organisational skills and the ability to effectively prioritise tasks and achieve/ meet deadlines.
- Must demonstrate a practical approach to problem solving.
- Due to the vetting level, you must have resided in the UK for at least 5 years.

Salary £22,671 - £27,351
For part time hours the salary will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, this is based on the number of hours for the vacancy.
