SalaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an R&D Chemist to join a family run polymer materials manufacturer based in Greater Manchester. As an R&D Chemist, you will be involved in developing polymers from initial concept through to commercialisation, working closely with customers throughout the process to present data and ensure all specifications are met.
To be considered for this role, you will have a degree in Chemistry or a related subject, with 3+ years’ experience developing polymer materials - adhesive/coating/resin products will be the most relevant experience, however other areas will be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
- To develop new polymeric materials that meet customer needs, managing the process from initial concept through to commercialisation
- Provide technical expertise to the production team when scaling up products from lab scale to production scale
- To prepare and test samples through various chemical and mechanical testing methods
Knowledge and Experience:
- Have a degree in Chemistry or a related field, with 3+ years’ experience developing polymeric materials, the preferred background would be resins/adhesives/coatings however other transferable areas will be considered
- Experience with laboratory techniques including IR, DSC and UV-vis
- Previous experience scaling up products from laboratory scale to production scale
