As an R&D Tax Assistant Manager, you will play a pivotal role in assisting their clients in identifying and securing R&D tax credits and incentives. You will be responsible for analysing and interpreting technical and financial information related to clients' R&D activities, preparing accurate and compelling R&D tax credit claims, and collaborating with both clients and internal stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.
- Conduct thorough reviews of clients' R&D activities, including technical documentation, financial records, and project details.
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to identify eligible R&D projects and activities, ensuring compliance with UK R&D tax legislation and guidelines.
- Prepare accurate and comprehensive R&D tax claims, including technical reports and financial calculations, in accordance with HMRC regulations.
- Conduct in-depth technical interviews with clients' technical teams to extract relevant information and identify eligible R&D activities and costs.
- Analyse financial data, cost breakdowns, and project budgets to determine eligible R&D expenditures and appropriate tax credit calculations.
- Keep up-to-date with changes in R&D tax legislation and regulations to ensure compliance and provide proactive advice to clients.
- Support clients during HMRC audits and enquiries related to R&D tax claims, addressing queries and providing necessary documentation.
- Assist in developing and implementing internal processes and tools to improve the efficiency and accuracy of preparing R&D tax credit claims.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the firm, including audit and tax professionals, accountants, grant specialists, to ensure successful R&D tax credit outcomes for clients.
Requirements:
- Experience working within the R&D tax sector or from a technical industry (such as electrical/electronic engineering) background.
- An understanding of UK R&D tax guidelines and UK tax legislation is preferred but not essential as this can be learned on the job.
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific or technological field such as engineering (mechanical, electrical, civil), life sciences (biomedical, pharmaceutical), computer science, physics, mathematics.
