Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic individual to join the Research & Development Directorate at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust. We are looking to appoint a Clinical Research Intern to join a well-established team that supports clinical
professionals across the Trust in the set-up and delivery of research activity. The role will support the West Midlands Haematology Research Collaborative (WMHRC) in particular the establishment of the WMHRC Database.
The programme for a 12-month fixed term or secondment placement; and is ideal for social & healthcare science graduates wanting to experience theset-up and delivery of research in a secondary health care setting.
The post holder will work as a supervised member of staff, with healthcare and sponsorship teams undertaking research studies: gaining both research delivery exposure and hands-on learning.
The position may require travel to and working at other Partner Organisations across the West Midlands.
Key Working Relationships including, but not limited to:
• RWT Sponsorship team
• West Midlands Haematology Research Collaborative & Haematologists
• Partner Organisations R&D Departments (including Managers and team members)
• Clinical Research Nurses
• Staff in the Hosting organisation (RWT), including estates and facilities, finance department, and Human Resources.
• Higher Educational Institute R&D Units and Clinical Academics
• National and local study teams
• Chief Investigators
• Principal Investigators
• Service users including commercial companies

1. To use all information systems according to the authorised policies & protocols, research governance and IG requirements.
2. To input data information accurately into the computer system, followed by an accuracy check by a mentor/senior colleague.
3. To follow Standard Operating Procedures involved in research processes, the processing of work/data and contribute to producing data collection tools in Excel and databases under appropriate supervision.
4. To deal with telephone queries and checking data with clerical/healthcare staff.
5. To communicate information verbally and in writing and communicate routine information with staff.
6. To make straight forward judgements involving facts or situations, some requiring analysis.
7. To plan and prioritise own workload, arranges meetings for others.
8. To follow Trust and Local department policies.
9. Demonstrates own activities to new or less experienced employees.
10. Undertake surveys or audits, as necessary to own work i.e. completes staff surveys, complete basic audit pro-forma.
11. Do administrate non-complex processes.
General
1. To be able to deal with interruptions and to be able to allocate and prioritise tasks appropriately.
2. To observe and adhere to local and national health and safety policies.
3. To maintain good work relations with all members of staff, and to promote effective teamwork.
To participate in Continual Professional Development meeting professional requirements, keeping up-to-date with current practices and procedures
