Company Description

We are looking for an experienced Deputy Features & Lifestyle Editor to join our dynamic Magazines hub. This is a key role within our newly structured team and a fantastic opportunity to plan, create and edit features and lifestyle content across our various print and digital magazine brands including OK!, New Magazine, OK.co.uk and the magazine supplements for the Mirror, Express and Daily Star.

You will develop and execute both print and digital ideas for content from cutting edge health and agenda setting real life, to trend driven interiors, celebrity, royals, weddings, food, gardening and more.

We’re looking for fresh ideas and new perspectives from people from a wide range of backgrounds, and we want you to tell us the stories you believe are important from our many communities so we can continue to diversify our content.

Job Description

What will the role involve?

You will oversee the Features departmental, supporting the Editor to manage a team of dynamic writers and curating content that resonates with our audiences. You will help generate, forward plan, write and edit lifestyle and features content, ensuring it meets Reach’s high standards and matches the house style of each brand perfectly.

You will work collaboratively with the Commercial Content Director to drive affiliate revenue on all appropriate content in line with monthly targets. You will come up with innovative ideas and creative concepts for interviews and features for print on a weekly basis. You will play a key role in ensuring your team works seamlessly across print and online, content sharing among titles. This role will involve working on a shift/rota basis including weekends and evenings so a flexible approach is required.

Qualifications

Who are we looking for?

You are an exceptional NCTJ qualified journalist and Editor with a proven track record of writing and editing top quality features and lifestyle content in a fast paced magazine or newsroom environment. You have experience working across both print and digital content, and the nuanced editing skills that both require. You have an excellent understanding of what our various magazine audiences want and can edit in the different styles and tones with ease. 

You have an eye for visuals and can approve print layouts, imagery and copy working closely with senior editors and Art teams to ensure our brands continue to stand out. You are a supportive people manager who has the skills to foster a high performance culture through clear communication and goal setting. You are passionate about all things celebrity and lifestyle news, staying up to date with the latest news and trends, with a bursting contacts book to match.
