Background Sport and Leisure Services are looking for a full time Recreation Assistant to improve upon our goal of offering sporting opportunities to our students, staff and local community. The successful candidate will be required to work week days and weekends. Shifts will be based on a rota system comprising of early (06.30 – 14.30), middle (11.00-19.00 / 12.00-20.00) and late shifts (14.30-22.30). Shift timings may change depending on the operational needs of CitySport. Responsibilities The post holder will assist in the delivery and organisation of student sport and external activities. They will take particular responsibility for preparing activity areas to include the safe setting up and dismantling of equipment, ensuring that all equipment is stored safely and securely when not in use. Customer service and personal engagement form a large part of the job content. The role will involve supporting sports programs such as CityActive, No Strings Badminton, Sports Tournaments, and Weekly Social Sports. Person Specification The ability to manually lift heavy equipment (up to 80kg in a 2 person lift) is vital. Cleaning & maintenance of equipment and playing areas are also a high priority. Organisation and time management skills are essential, together with a commitment to delivering a professional customer service. A proactive approach to completing tasks and a willingness to work collaboratively with other departments is essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential as well as exhibiting a professional attitude towards customers and colleagues.
