Job description

Registered Veterinary Nurse
Cardiff Vets for Pets

We have an unmissable opportunity for a Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly, longstanding team at Cardiff Llanrumney Vets4Pets. This vacancy is within our practice that has been established for 11 years; we pride ourselves not only on the care we provide for patients and clients, but the fantastic opportunities we offer our team.
Joining Llanrumney Vets for Pets means joining an independently run practice, led by partners Delyth and Tom who are committed to supporting the team day in, day out, as shown by our excellent staff retention rate. We are recruiting to ensure that our nurse team retains the work life balance they deserve; frankly we would rather be overstaffed than under!
The RVN role at Cardiff Llanrumney offers the opportunities you’d expect from a first opinion practice in terms of consulting, surgical nursing and emergency triaging skills. Our nurses do not fulfil reception duties (we have a very capable team for that allowing you to concentrate on nursing!) and you would be joining our existing highly experienced RVN team as well as a second year SVN and an ACA.
In addition to the first opinion caseload, we accept a large number of Orthopaedic referrals. Should your interests lie in theatre, this offers a very real opportunity to use your current skills or enhance them, as well as pursue further qualifications in the field should you wish, financially supported by us.
Our practice has a real family feel and to reflect this, the role can be full or part time to suit your needs. We have children ourselves and understand the “childcare juggle” that is usually a non-negotiable part of parenthood!
Our practice is open Monday - Friday 8:30am to 6pm and Saturday 9am - 12 noon only. We close on Sundays, and Bank holidays and we do not do OOH work.
Work-life balance is important to us all! A full-time role with us would be 40 hours a week, split over Monday to Friday shifts plus 1 in 4 Saturday mornings; but we can accommodate a variety of days/hours worked for the right candidate.
What makes this role different for you?
Along with flexible working and joining a fantastic practice with a first opinion and referral level caseload, you can also expect to join a very experienced nursing team who will only ever work to support one student at a time. This allows you to offer as much support as you can but not over stretch you!
In addition to a rewarding role in an easily accessible location you can also expect to receive:
  • Competitive salary starting at £28,000+, depending on your experience and further qualifications
  • No Sunday, Bank Holiday or out of hours work, ensuring a healthy work-life balance
  • Opportunity to pursue fully funded further qualifications should you wish to
  • Optional private health care scheme
  • Life insurance 4 x annual salary
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Colleague reward hub - exclusive offers and discounts online and on the high street, including required such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s, John Lewis, M&S and 20% off at Pets at Home, Vets4Pets and the Groom Room

What you can offer us
Sharing our passion and commitment for high standards will ensure you thrive within this role. We run a relaxed ship, with fun and laughter but never with compromise to the excellent standards we insist on for every one of our patients.
If you would like to hear more, please contact tom.butler@vets4pets.com; we’re excited to bring a new team member on-board!
Location: CF3 5NQ
Pets just see people. They aren’t biased and they don’t discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don’t perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
