Job description

Join our University Secretariat team and play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective governance of University of the Arts London. This role will manage a small team to support the wider University, and particularly senior managers, on complex regulatory issues, including:
•    The Prevent Duty
•    Freedom of Speech and External Speaker Policy
•    General Data Protection Rules and the Information Commissioners’ Office

Your responsibilities will involve developing expertise in these regulatory matters to advise senior managers regarding compliance within the university. You'll work to ensure that best practices regarding these issues are integrated into the university's culture and operational processes. This will involve creating and executing project plans, managing risks effectively, collaborating with HR, and building a network of colleagues across departments. Additionally, you'll be instrumental in conducting training sessions and fostering engagement among staff and students to ensure UAL's full compliance with all regulatory aspects.

As part of your role, you'll also oversee the management and documentation of casework related to compliance issues, stay updated on policy developments, work closely with the UAL policy team, and offer timely advice to senior managers on emerging compliance steps or risks.

About you

•    Proficiency in project management, training delivery, and stakeholder management.
•    Experience in advising senior colleagues and shaping organisational culture, especially on compliance matters.
•    Strong communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences on technical issues.
•    Leadership and management capabilities, including team motivation, collaboration promotion, and reputation building.
•    Effective planning and management skills for complex projects with multiple dependencies.
•    Innovative problem-solving skills with a strategic impact.
