Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic and committed inpatient Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Team. We work alongside our patients supporting them to achieve their therapy goals and give them the confidence to reach the next stage of their rehabilitation journey. You will be working as part of the multidisciplinary team to provide an essential service in our community hospitals to the local population.
We are looking for someone who is motivated, enthusiastic and has excellent communication skills, with a strong desire to enable others to maximise independence and to be part of an innovative and forward-thinking rehabilitation team.
Hours are flexible depending on the right applicant.
Main duties of the job
Rehabilitation Support Worker.
A part time Band 3 Rehabilitation Support Worker post has become available within our experienced multidisciplinary team who work in our Inpatient Intermediate Care Units across Sussex. This post will be mainly based at the Uckfield Community Hospital, but you may be asked to work occasionally on other local bases.
This role involves working closely with patients to assess and improve their skills in activities of daily living, mobility and self care. The post also includes administrative tasks and record keeping. Your work will be directed and supervised by qualified Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, and you will work alongside our other Rehabilitation Support Workers and our nursing colleagues.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our supportive team, and our ideal candidate will be flexible, well organised, and willing to work across sites on occasions. A willingness to learn and develop is essential, along with good communication and interpersonal skills. Relevant therapy experience is preferred, although training will be given via completion of specific therapy competencies and further guidance as required.

Job responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will be to follow a therapy treatment plan as directed by the therapists, supporting the patients with exercises programmes and functional exercise and tasks.You will take part in one to one and groupwork with patients.You will be expected to be able to have some basic IT knowledge in order that you can document in the electronic patient notes.Please see job description for further information about the role.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • to be able to demonstrate good literacy and numeracy skills
  • relevant theoretical and practical training to NVQIII level or equivalent
  • related academic qualifications

Desirable
  • up to date manual handling training
  • up to date personal portfolio of learning and development

Experience
Essential
  • Administration duties such as record keeping, filing photocopying
  • minimum of one year experience working as a therapy assistant or other relevant role
  • at least one year's NHS experience health/social care
  • knowledge of roles of other MDT members
  • experience of working as part of a team
  • experience of working under own initiative
  • experience of planning own work load on daily basis
  • good IT skills to include word and outlook

Desirable
  • Experience of caring for patients in a community healthcare setting
  • signed competencies in areas relevant to post
  • proven competency training in fitting and assessing for daily living equipment and carrying out ADL assessments, basic mobility, stair assessment, and providing individual exercise programmes.
