RELIEF GP PHARMACIST

Location: Working in designated GP practices within the Causeway GP Federation area
Salary: £40,588 - £43,806 (pro rata) per annum
Contract: Permanent
Hours of Work: Full-time - 37.5 hours per week (P/T Hours considered)
GP Federations are not-for-profit Community Interest Companies consisting of GP Practices in defined areas or localities. The primary objective of each individual Federation is to support GP Practices and provide better care, delivered in a more responsive way and closer to home, for all our patients.
Job Summary
Working as part of a team, the postholder will continue to develop clinical pharmacy skills that will improve safety, efficiency, effectiveness and consistency of prescribing in primary care.
All activity will be agreed according to the Federation prescribing action plan and as part of the planning process with the relevant GP practice/s. Clinical patient facing activities will only be undertaken with the agreement of GPs in the practice.
The postholder will be line managed by Lead GP Pharmacists within the Causeway GP Federation.
Essential Criteria:
- Applicants should hold valid registration with the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (PSNI) or eligible for membership
- Applicants should possess an Undergraduate degree in Pharmacy
- Applicants should be willing and committed to undertake the required post-registration Pharmacist Foundation Programme (at the earliest opportunity on coming into post)
- Applicants should be registered as an Independent Prescriber OR be willing and committed to undertake the required Independent Prescribing qualification at the appropriate point, as determined by the Lead GP Pharmacist
- By 5th February 2024, applicants should have a minimum of 3 years post-registration experience in pharmacy
- Applicants should demonstrate an in-depth therapeutic and clinical knowledge and understanding of the principles of evidence-based healthcare
- Applicants should demonstrate knowledge of primary care prescribing, concepts of rational prescribing and strategies for improving prescribing
- Applicants should have Experience in use of IT systems
- The successful candidate should hold a full current driving license (valid in the UK) and have access to a car at the closing date or have ** access to a form of transport which will permit the applicant to carry out the duties of the post in full. (** this relates only to any person who has declared that they have a disability, which debars them from driving)
(The successful candidates may only take up post once 3 years post registration experience has been achieved)
Desirable Criteria:
- Applicants should have a minimum of 6 months experience within General Practice Pharmacy
A reserve list may be compiled for similar vacancies that may arise within the next 12 months.
