Key duties and responsibilities
Staff Management:
- With others, to ensure that performance staff are fully utilised and completely conversant with their duties for the show.
- Supervise performance staff in the absence of the Deputy and Chief Electrician.
Health and Safety:
- Adhere to the Company's Health and Safety Policy and Alcohol and Substance Use at Work Policy and to set a personal example in this respect.
- If requested, to contribute towards the generation of a risk assessment for each new production. To comply with the recommendations contained within the Risk Assessments for the show and the building.
- To ensure that Health and Safety equipment and PPE supplied is available and used correctly. Report any defects to the Chief Electrician.
- With others, ensuring that all the electrical equipment is maintained to a high standard and the portable appliances are regularly tested, in accordance with recommended guidelines to ensure compliance with the Electricity at Work Regulations.
Production:
- To work with the visiting Company and Stage Management to ensure good communications and the smooth running of the productions.
- With others, to ensure the Production is maintained to the highest technical standards.
- To be familiar with the cues of each of the Electricians in the running of the Production.
- To operate the lighting desk and provide cover for performance electricians when required.
Building:
- To assist in ensuring that the electrical installation is in good order and bring any deficiencies to the attention of the Chief Electrician.
- To maintain good standards of "housekeeping" throughout the building.
- To carry out work throughout the building as required by the Theatre Manager or Chief Electrician.
- To diligently conduct lamp replacement rounds on the front of house, rear of house, box office, dressing rooms and externally as required.
