Job description

You will lead our Global Renewable Trading activities in Europe, focussing on originating and structuring transactions with corporate clients. You will work as part of a global team, covering UK, Europe, Americas, Japan and the APAC region.

With the assistance of a Renewables Market Analyst, you will be responsible for identifying, valuing, transacting and subsequent position management of Energy Attribute Certificates and Carbon Emissions Reduction Certificate transactions. The focus will be managing client flow from our Commercial I&C retail and PPA activities, providing a route-to-market for our Origination customers, and originating transactions directly with corporate clients.

How will I spend my time in this role?


  • Responsibility for managing the renewable commodity positions, maintaining a continuous view of the position (volumetric and value);
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with our wholesale customers, brokers and corporate clients;
  • Hiring, training, motivating, evaluating, and managing an Analyst;
  • Driving our marketing efforts to corporate clients including networking, attending conferences, making presentations, and working with the marketing and commercial teams to produce marketing content;
  • Execute trades so that the book value is improved (positive retained P&L) by additional transactions;
  • Originate renewables contracts with corporate clients to deliver additional company revenues and/or manage risks;
  • Carry out the appropriate analysis and pricing of all relevant environmental commodities and carry out analysis to support Origination / Structured Trading Teams;
  • Respond to business leads from the Origination / Sales teams to deliver additional company revenues.

What skills/experience do I need to be successful?

  • Experience of Gas, Power, Energy Attribute Certificates and / or Carbon Emissions Reduction Certificates trading gained through a front office position at a utility, trading house, bank, or similar institution.
  • Extensive experience marketing commodity products to corporate clients.
  • Extensive experience of analysing market data and trends to develop new commercial strategies.
  • Extensive network in the European energy markets
  • Experience of the full deal life cycle - originating, structuring, and executing.
  • Deep market knowledge of the renewable energy sector (e.g. regulatory regimes promoting renewable energy and emissions reductions, market participants, market fundamentals, price and volatility trends).
