SalaryApplications are invited for the post of Research Accountant within the Research Finance Services (RFS) team in the University's Finance and Procurement Directorate. This full-time post is offered on a permanent basis.
RFS provides research grant administrative support to the University's academic community, spanning the whole cycle from application support and approval, financial management, including audit, through to grant closure. RFS is also responsible for accurate and timely analysis and reporting on research funding activity to meet internal and external requirements.
The Research Accountant will have a leadership role within the team and will support the integrity of research policy and accounting processes by the provision of technical financial and accounting advice. They will be involved in developing this professional service, including identifying and implementing improvements to systems and procedures to enhance quality and efficiency as well as maximise cost recovery on externally funded research. The post-holder will have line management responsibilities for part of the Research Finance Services team and will contribute to the strategic planning and operational improvements to enhance service delivery. The post demands day to day interaction with academic colleagues, external bodies and other administrative sections of the University. Excellent numerical, IT, written and verbal communication skills are essential, as are attention to detail and an ability to cope with a demanding and deadline driven workload
The successful applicant will be a CCAB (or equivalent) qualified accountant and will have relevant experience of a similar role within the sector.
