We are seeking a Research and Development Test Engineer to join the Lab team at our HQ on the Advanced Manufacturing Park in Sheffield.
Role purpose:
Contribute to product development, validation tests, and component-level characterisation tests.
Role Summary:
As a Test Engineer you play a key role in the laboratory team. You will perform product development and validation tests as well as component level characterisation tests that provide valuable data for the wider engineering team and company standards.
You will communicate with the wider Iceotope team to gather test requirements and develop test plans. You will help to commission test set ups ensuring equipment and instrumentation is to requirements and fully validated. You will be the principal lead in performing lab tests and producing test reports.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Development and Validation Tests:
- Plan, set up, and conduct controlled product development and validation tests to meet company requirements.
- Perform air and liquid benchmarking of customers' IT independently.
Equipment Management:
- Specify and order equipment required for tests.
- Maintain, calibrate, clean, and inspect laboratory equipment regularly.
Sample/Device Commissioning:
- Collect, prepare, and commission samples/devices under test.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Record, analyze, and interpret test data, providing clear communication to the wider engineering team.
- Write detailed and clear test plans and reports for internal and external sharing.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Communicate with the Iceotope team to gather test requirements and develop test plans.
- Provide technical support to other lab members, engineers, and clients.
Technical Procedures:
- Demonstrate and prepare technical procedures, ensuring adherence to industry standards.
Risk Assessments and Safety:
- Follow and carry out risk assessments for all lab activities.
- Promote safe lab working practices and maintain general lab tidiness.
Resource Management:
- Communicate with the lab manager and technician regarding the maintenance of stock and resources.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay up-to-date with technical developments, especially in lab software, instrumentation, and potential innovative solutions.
- Identify opportunities to save time and improve reliability in testing processes
Skills, experience, qualifications:
Essential
- Experience in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Desirable
- Experience in laboratory testing and data analysis
- Familiarity with current lab software and instrumentation
- Strong understanding of testing methodologies and procedures
