Research Assistant: The Oxford Psychological Interventions For Children And Adolescents (Topic)

Applications are invited for a Research Assistant to work with Professor Cathy Creswell’s TOPIC (The Oxford Psychological Interventions in Childhood and adolescence) research group, on the ‘OSI-GROWS’ project OSI (Online Support and Intervention for child anxiety). The post is funded by the Paul Foundation and is based in the Department of Experimental Psychology in the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter in Oxford.  The post is full-time. The post is for a fixed term (funded for 12 months). OSI is a brief online therapist supported, parent-led Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) intervention for preadolescent children with anxiety problems. OSI-GROWS (Growing OSI With Services) involves supporting teams that provide child mental health treatment (on behalf of the NHS) to implement OSI in their routine clinical practice. This role will predominantly involve conducting qualitative interviews and analyses to explore clinicians’ and clinical teams’ experiences of implementing OSI in their routine clinical practice. You will also liaise with clinical teams to support the implementation of OSI in their services and to obtain permission for the OSI-GROWS team to use data downloaded from OSI for evaluation purposes. You will have a degree (2:1 or above) in psychology together with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.   You will be experienced in recruiting participants to research studies as well as conducting interviews and/or focus groups.  Experience of analysing qualitative data and using quantitative data analysis programmes is essential.  Familiarity with treatment for and measures of child anxiety and experience of conducting research in child mental health settings would be desirable.
