Job description
To undertake research and project coordination on development tidal range schemes in collaboration with the project industrial partners. This includes development and application of hydro-environmental models to assess the impacts of the schemes including the impacts on water quality besides optimisation of the design of the structures. The project also involves development and application of optimisation models, including using artificial intelligence based models, to enhance energy generation and storage capability of tidal range schemes in collaboration with industrial partners. The successful post holder will be employed to work across the following 3 projects entitled “New generation of modelling software for extreme floods” which is funded by a Cardiff University EPSRC Harmonised Impact Acceleration Account, “TidAl Range schemes as configurable Grid-scale Energy sTorage facilities (TARGET)” which is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and “Development of very low head tidal turbine” funded by Innovate UK the work is currently agreed until 31/5/25. This post is full time (35 hours per week), available from 1 February 2024 and is fixed term until 31 May 2025. Salary: £39,347 - £44,263 per annum (Grade 6).
