Imperial-X, White City Campus London Research Associate salary range: £45,593 - £53,630 per annum* Full-time, Fixed term to start ASAP for up to 12 months (with the possibility of extension) Job Summary We are seeking to hire a Research Associate level to join the DSIT/EPSRC funded national Communications Hub for Empowering Distributed ClouD computing Applications and Research (CHEDDAR) Communications Hub. The aim of the Hub is to facilitate the connection of UK excellence to encourage brave new ideas in Communications and Networking research that will ensure the UK lead in 6G technologies. This is an exciting new opportunity to join a national federation of communications hubs that include Titan and HASC Hubs. Together we generate world-leading research, while growing via project and platform funding. Specifically, this is an opportunity to lead the Integrated Sensing and Communications strand of CHEDDAR’s research. You will be joining a world-leading team. The SPIKE group leads the “Intelligible AI” research initiative at Imperial-X focusing on the development of innovative AI architectures and solutions that are trustworthy, interpretable, and explainable, exploring application to a range of real-world problems. Duties and Responsibilities To carry out fundamental and challenge led research on trustworthy AI solutions for ultra-large Network Optimisation, with particular focus on 6G. To publish and present research results and findings in high quality journals, conferences etc. To attend relevant Hub meetings, workshops and conferences as necessary, and this will involve travel and overnight stays. To conduct and plan own work with appropriate supervision. To collaborate with industry and government. To develop contacts and research collaborations in order to further the Hub’s aims. Essential requirements At Research Associate level you must have a A PhD (or equivalent) in an area pertinent to the subject area, i.e. Artificial Intelligence or Computer Science. Experience in the following: Develop AI solutions for (network) optimisation. Understanding of: A range of AI technologies and architectures, including Neuro-symbolic models Trustworthiness and Explainability of AI. network communications and optimisation problems Experience with publicity, scientific writing for general audiences. Formal Methods or related You must have excellent communication skills and be able to organise your work with minimal supervision and prioritise work to meet deadlines.
