Location: NHLI - ICTEM Building, Hammersmith Campus Job Summary Imperial College London's National Heart and Lung Institute seeks a Research Software Engineer to join the Cardiac Electro-Mechanics Research Group (www.cemrg.com). This role involves developing algorithms, methods and a user interface (GUI) for image analysis, creating human heart models, and analysis of diagnostic data analysis (www.cemrgapp.com). The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with a team of developers, remote and local cardiologists and algorithm developers. Our software is used in the EU, US and Australia providing an exciting opportunity to work with global teams and rapidly translate software into clinical research and impact. Duties and responsibilities In Cardiac Electro-Mechanics Research Group you will: Collaborate with a team of developers to design and implement software for medical image analysis, and modelling and simulating the heart. Apply advanced techniques in image analysis, neural networks, and mesh operations to develop accurate algorithms for image analysis and simulating human hearts. Work closely with medical imaging and diagnostic datasets to extract essential information required for detailed heart analysis and simulations. Contribute to refining and improving existing software tools, ensuring robustness, efficiency, and accuracy in simulating the heart. Essential requirements PhD degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or another related field. Proficiency in software collaborative development, particularly in GUI design, algorithm development, containers, github, and continuous development. Experience with machine learning libraries (PyTorch, Tensorflow or keras) are desirable Experience with image processing, neural networks, and mesh operations. Strong understanding of medical imaging and diagnostic datasets and formats. Excellent collaboration and communication skills within a team-oriented environment.
