Our client is seeking a dedicated Research & Development Assistant to join their family-run food manufacturing business near Winchester. As a key member of the team, you’ll play a vital role in developing their product portfolio to the highest standards, supporting their mission to make sustainable and ethical change in the industry.
Role Overview:
As an Research & Development Assistant, you’ll play a pivotal role in bringing their mission to life – creating delicious, craft food whilst treading lightly on the planet. Reporting to the NPD Manager, you’ll be involved in every step of the product development process, from concept to launch and continuous improvement. This hands-on role requires a positive, team player with a ‘can-do’ attitude and a commitment to maintaining their high standards.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct laboratory trials for new and existing product development.
- Perform physical and chemical analysis.
- Maintain inventory of ingredients and finished products.
- Assist in writing laboratory SOPs and following R&D procedures.
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of the NPD lab.
- Collaborate on administrative tasks and documentation.
- Assist in factory trials and production handover.
- Conduct benchmarking sessions and ingredient procurement.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Ideally, a degree in food science or related field.
- Previous experience in food industry R&D or new product development preferred.
- Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport.
- Computer literate with good mathematical skills.
- Flexibility in working hours, including early morning shifts.
First shift: 0545 am to 1415 pm
Second shift: 1415 pm to 2230 pm
