An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Manager to join a leading UK health charity,
Salary: £45,000 - £48,000
Place of work: Hybrid. Please note that the role will require some attendance at face-to-face meetings and the charity meets four times a year at its office in Hatfield.
As Research Manager you will lead and manage the delivery of the charity’s strategic aims for research. This includes managing the programme of grants, working with networks and partners to drive increased investment in research and working to support increased patient and public involvement in research. You will drive new initiatives and develop and deliver tactical plans for the Research team and contribute to the leadership, planning and delivery of cross-team projects.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting the Head of Research and Evidence to deliver the implementation of the charity’s research strategy including identifying and developing effective relationships with potential research collaborators and partners in order to raise the profile of research for the charity.
Working with the Evidence and Insight team to ensure research programmes are focussed on the needs and priorities of people they help.
Managing the annual research call including working with external panels and committees including the Research Strategy and Funding Committee and awards panel(s) to manage the peer review process and the successful awarding of funds.
Reviewing and developing programmes of patient and public involvement in research and identifying further opportunities for increasing patient and public involvement in research in accordance with the research strategy.
Leading and managing the team ensuring staff are trained, supported and motivated to deliver consistent, effective and high-quality services.
Leading operational planning and budgeting, with the oversight of the Head of Research and Health Services, tracking operational and budget performance; reporting monthly to show progress and any changes needed.
Manage programmes ensuring appropriate project management methodology is used and milestones are delivered to time and budget.
Ensuring equality, diversity and inclusion and the patient voice are considered in all aspects of the charity’s work on research.
Deputising for the Head of Research and Health Services as required.
The successful candidate will have evidence in delivery of research funding programmes in a UK context and be experienced in successful development of operational performance metrics, strategies and objectives. You must have a proven track record in proactively identifying, developing and delivering new initiatives around research and be experienced in horizon scanning and networking to keep up to date with research developments across the UK and beyond.
