Full time starting salary is normally in the range £45,585 to £54,395 with potential progression once in post to £61,198 We have a role available in our College of Engineering and Physical Sciences College Hub Closing date: 21 January 2024 The Role The Research Strategy & Development Partner (RSDP) is a senior role within the University supporting the development of research strategies and major strategic research and innovation bids for academic teams both within a defined College and regularly working across all five Colleges to support large, interdisciplinary applications.  This RSDP position will have a major focus on supporting the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences.   Reporting to the Head of Research Strategy & Development, the RSDP is an integral part of the University’s community of research development practitioners, working closely with senior academic and professional services staff to deliver excellence in research encompassing complex, competitive bids to funders; the development and nurturing of key funder relationships; and the development of research funding and partnership strategies for your College and across institutional thematic research areas. The RSDP is responsible for building sufficient capacity with academic leaders and external partners to successfully develop and secure major, high-value strategic research projects. The role provides expert, strategic support to the College’s senior management, senior academic leaders and wider Professional Services teams in developing proposals and business cases for major investments in research and innovation. Person Specification Educated to Degree level (or equivalent) and with significant relevant practical experience of successfully supporting the development of major, complex research proposals, you will also have demonstrable appreciation of the academic fields within Engineering and the Physical Sciences. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven experience of using coaching and other appropriate skills to lead, motivate and manage teams, as well as experience in the negotiation of research projects and contracts. You will have authoritative knowledge of the research funding environment and will be able to structure and present complex ideas and data as well as demonstrate excellent judgement and problem-solving skills.
