Researcher - Geospatial Modelling Of Anti-Malarial Resistance

Location: - Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health, New Richards Building, Old Road Campus, Roosevelt Drive, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7FZ The Infectious Diseases Data Observatory at the Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health, University of Oxford, is looking for an enthusiastic and proactive researcher to support geo-spatial modelling activity on two exciting projects, and to bolster broader capacity in this area. You will be based in Oxford working with Prof. Philippe J Guerin, Director of IDDO and Dr Prabin Dahal, Head of the statistical team of IDDO and will be closely collaborating with Prof. Jennifer Flegg at the University of Melbourne. You will be responsible for managing your own academic research and administrative activities, including co-ordination of multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. Working closely with Profs. Guerin and Flegg, you will adapt existing and develop new research methodologies and materials. You will prepare working theories and analyse qualitative and/or quantitative data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining theories as appropriate and develop ideas for generating research income, and present detailed research proposals to senior researchers. It is essential that you hold a relevant PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in applied statistics, spatial epidemiology, mathematical biology/ecology etc, together with relevant experience. You will possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes and the ability to manage own academic research and associated activities. It is essential that you have previous experience of contributing to peer-reviewed publications/presentations and the ability to contribute ideas for new research projects and research income generation.
