We are looking for Residential Support worker to work in Bangor for the South-Eastern Trust on Contract basis

Location: Bangor

Position:Residential Support worker

Pay rate: £12.86- £14.53 per hour

Shifts: Full time hours, 7AM-3PM / 2PM-10PM M-F, Weekends required on rota basis

Eligibility Criteria

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a Residential Support Worker role with children.
  • NISCC registration is required
  • Right To Work in the UK (No Sponsorship is provided)
  • Up to date Immunisation records to complete a full occupational health review. MMR essential.
  • Valid Driver’s license is required
  • Experience with Children’s Residential unit

Requirements

  • 4 GCSEs A-C or equivalent
  • NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care or equivalent and/ or 2 years experience
  • Ability to engage and build rapport with children with challenging behaviours
  • Be proficient with IT systems, sound data entry & report writing skills
  • Candidates will be subject to enhanced vetting including an enhanced Access NI check and compliance due to the nature of this work
  • Up to date Immunization records to complete a full occupational health review
  • Ability to build rapport with ease
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work in fast paced user-centric environment

Responsibilities

  • Have an understanding of how to respond and report robustly and effectively to disclosures and concerns of abuse
  • Deliver a service, which meets all organizational and professional responsibilities
  • Have an awareness of policies and procedures in respect of Child Abuse Investigation and Joint Protocol procedure
  • Assist with the supervision of the young people’s clothing, furnishings and household equipment and undertake household and domestic duties
  • Support the young people by undertaking their general supervision and be involved in their educational work and leisure activities
  • Accompany the young people, when required, on leisure activities,outings and visits
  • Transport young people to/ from school, and on extra curricular activities
  • Promote or undertake personal care duties in the case of young people with a disability where required
  • Promote and implement a Positive Behaviour Support model and child centred approach
  • Contribute to, and participate in, reviews, staff meetings, in-service training, supervision and individual programmes of care in respect of the young people.
  • To provide a caring, supportive and nurturing environment in which children/young people can feel secure and free from harm. Helping young people gain self control by challenging unacceptable behaviour and rewarding acceptable, pro-social conduct.
  • To act as a key worker or co-worker for a young person to ensure that the young person’s care plans are up to date and that all their care needs are being met.
  • To provide a positive role model to be able to offer advice, guidance and assistance where appropriate.
