Join our team as a Team Leader and become an integral part of a unique project with opportunities to potentially evolve into a Deputy Manager as the initiative unfolds.

About the Role:

As Team Leader for our first 5-bedded home for children aged 10 – 16 years old, you'll lead, develop, and motivate Residential Practitioners, driving continuous high standards of care. Reporting to the Deputy Manager, you'll assist the Leadership team in fostering a nurturing and supportive environment for the young people whilst developing a culture where your team will excel.

Join us on an exciting journey to establish a new Children's Residential Service and a family of homes in Southwark, ensuring more children in care are supported to live locally and connected to their communities. Our first home caters to a maximum of 5 children and young people aged 10 to 16 years.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Directly lead the support teams of Residential Practitioners, ensuring a child centred home environment with an emphasis on motivation, development, and nurturing.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, teachers, social workers and health.
  • Maintain high standards of care and develop a culture where your team excel and children thrive.
  • To ensure that a child-centred approach is adopted to meet the identified needs of individual children and young people in accordance with individual care plans.
  • To work with the Manager/Deputy Manager to monitor individual staff performance and work-plans, setting targets, appraisals.
  • Foster a positive, outcome focused and empowering environment for young people and your team.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a residential setting.
  • QCF Level 4 Children, Young People and Family Practitioner Diploma or equivalent (or willingness to quickly work towards this).
  • Knowledge of childcare, child development, and the impact of trauma.
  • Sound knowledge of OFSTED legislation.
  • Proven track record supporting young people.
  • Effective communicator. Flexibility to work in shift patterns.

Additional details

Contractual hours: 36 per week in accordance with the needs of the service which operates on a rota basis. Shifts can include weekend and overnight work. The post holder may be required to work outside of normal working hours in accordance with service needs.

Please note this role requires a Satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at an enhanced level.
