Reporting to the Deputy Manager, you'll assist the Leadership team in fostering a nurturing and supportive environment for the young people whilst developing a culture where your team will excel.The Opportunity:Southwark’s Children &; Families Services consistently earn Ofsted's Good rating in all areas. Join us on an exciting journey to establish a new Children's Residential Service and a family of homes in Southwark, ensuring more children in care are supported to live locally and connected to their communities. Our first home caters to a maximum of 5 children and young people aged 10 to 16 years.Your Responsibilities:
  • Directly lead the support teams of Residential Practitioners, ensuring a child centred home environment with an emphasis on motivation, development, and nurturing.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, teachers, social workers and health.
  • Maintain high standards of care and develop a culture where your team excel and children thrive.
  • To ensure that a child-centred approach is adopted to meet the identified needs of individual children and young people in accordance with individual care plans.
  • To work with the Manager/Deputy Manager to monitor individual staff performance and work-plans, setting targets, appraisals.
  • Foster a positive, outcome focused and empowering environment for young people and your team.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a residential setting.
  • QCF Level 4 Children, Young People and Family Practitioner Diploma or equivalent (or willingness to quickly work towards this).
  • Knowledge of childcare, child development, and the impact of trauma.
  • Sound knowledge of OFSTED legislation.
  • Proven track record supporting young people.
  • Effective communicator. Flexibility to work in shift patterns.
