Resource Planner
Hybrid Working with 2 days in Preston, Lancashire
Salary £30-35k DOE 37 hours a week
A glance at the role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Resource Planner to join our Operations Team. Reporting into the Planning & Resource Manager, you will be responsible for the implementation and ongoing improvement of our resource planning process; to ensure work is allocated in a timely and appropriate manner.
Working with key stakeholders from across the wider business, you will identify opportunities to improve the performance and member experience through achievement of SLAs and intelligent allocation of resource, workflow and skill sets.
Collaborating across the business and using your personal influencing, analytical skills and experience of understanding our business and data trends, you will work with LPPA operational heads to allocate resource to priority areas to deliver SLAs across casework.
Your role will be responsible for reviewing work volume & resource information from multiple sources and channels. Some work peaks can be anticipated, and others will be unexpected. The role will require a proactive or responsive approach to planning resource allocation. You will be actively involved in the allocation of work to ensure SLAs are delivered.

What you’ll be doing:
- Identify resource gaps using all known data, historic trend information, work volumes, statutory deadlines, member behaviour and knowledge of SLAs and work priorities to move staff accordingly to ensure SLAs are achieved
- Allocate work to casework teams using all available information sources to ensure resource is effectively utilised and geared towards delivery of SLAs
- Standardise work allocation across teams - constantly review efficiency of allocation and optimise resource
- Monitor adherence to resource plan
- Analyse live performance metrics and predicted work volumes alongside available resource and competency levels to better allocate staff to teams on a daily, weekly, monthly basis
- Support the set up and creation of work cases which are received in bulk but need to be fed into the workflow with the aim of smoothing peaks
- Ensure working patterns and rotas are aligned with business needs
- Constantly review upcoming work volumes to identify efficiencies and create capacity
- Minimise unnecessary work within the workflow system to create capacity
- Review absence and staff leave to ensure suitable cover is allocated to cover work volumes
- Create and utilise contingency measures across all teams based on operational demand
- Comply with LPPA’s Data Protection and Information Security policies and any relevant GDPR legislation
What we need from you:
- Strong communication skills and collaborative approach
- Strong track record in resource planning
- Always puts the member experience at the centre of all decisions
- A track record of building productive working relationships with stakeholders
- Experience of working in a planning function within a service environment
- Excellent presentation skills with the ability to both understand and translate data and communicate resource decisions
- Able to deliver business level KPIs consistently
- A team worker able to build effective relationships at all levels within the organisation
- Able to present data and MI in a compelling manner to support resource decisions
- Experience of using PowerBi (or similar MI tool) advantageous
