Responsibilities:
- Provide expert clinical leadership and specialist care to patients with respiratory conditions, including but not limited to asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, and lung cancer
- Conduct comprehensive assessments, investigations, and diagnostic procedures to formulate accurate diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans
- Lead multidisciplinary teams in the management and coordination of patient care, ensuring optimal outcomes and continuity of care
- Perform bronchoscopy, thoracoscopy, and other interventional procedures as required, demonstrating proficiency and adherence to clinical guidelines
- Participate in outpatient clinics, inpatient ward rounds, and multidisciplinary team meetings to review patient progress and discuss treatment plans
- Engage in clinical research, audit, and quality improvement initiatives to advance respiratory medicine and enhance patient outcomes
- Provide supervision, training, and mentorship to junior medical staff and allied health professionals, fostering their professional development and clinical skills
- Contribute to the development and implementation of respiratory service policies, protocols, and pathways to improve service delivery and patient care
Requirements:
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register for Respiratory Medicine
- Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) or equivalent qualification
- Extensive experience working in respiratory medicine, with a strong foundation in managing patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions
- Excellent clinical skills, including the ability to perform bronchoscopy and interpret pulmonary function tests and imaging studies
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to continuous professional development and keeping abreast of advancements in respiratory medicine
- Experience in clinical research and publication of research findings in peer-reviewed journals (desirable)
