The role
As a Corporate Strategy and M&A Deals Consultant, you will work with leading corporate clients and investors, helping them tackle their toughest decisions. Your engagements will include a mix of corporate strategy (growth strategy, market entry, pricing, commercial excellence, product strategy) and transaction-related work (commercial due diligence and pre- and post-deal value creation). Your work will be varied, fast paced - no engagement is ever the same.
Strategy& RCL
You would be joining a market-leading and fast growing team that consistently works with leading UK and international businesses and private equity investors.
Our RCL team is organised into 3 sub-sectors:
- Our Retail team works across multiple sectors (e.g. clothing and footwear, jewellery, accessories, general merchandise, value retail, online) on a range of engagements, including: commercial diligence, consumer insights, definition of customer proposition, market entry, strategic planning and M&A
- Our Consumer team works with businesses to navigate fundamental challenges - advising investors to make better decisions and helping management teams to develop winning strategies. We work across sectors (e.g. food and beverage, personal care, beauty, pet food, catering, wholesale and logistics) and regularly support private equity on the largest and most iconic consumer deals
- Our Travel & Leisure team works with companies like restaurants, gyms, cinemas and travel operators to support on business decisions across growth strategy, international expansion and portfolio optimisation. We also work with potential investors assessing the attractiveness of acquiring assets in the sector
Skills and experience
- Your background (Any of the below)
- Previous strategy consulting experience from either a strategy consulting firm or the strategy or business development function of a Retail, Consumer or Leisure business
- Significant experience in conducting and managing Commercial Due Diligence/Vendor Due Diligence in one or more of the sectors
- Experience within Private Equity (investment or operational role)
- Your skills
- You'll have a very structured approach to problem solving and exceptional analytical skills
- Strong client management skills, including an understanding of how to communicate with clients of different backgrounds and opinions
- Proven experience of coaching junior team members
- An ability to multitask effectively and balance time between project delivery and business development support effectively
- You'll have a natural ability to multitask effectively and balance time between project delivery and business development
- Experienced in running projects on a day-to-day basis, structuring and managing the work streams and supervising delivery
- Planning initial hypotheses and analysis; formulating initial hypotheses based on previous experience, knowledge of the sector and understanding of the scope of work
- As a Senior Manager you will be confident in taking total ownership of client engagements and projects as well as supporting the wider practice improvement initiatives. You'll look at the wider business development opportunities, team growth and development
