Welcome to The Olsen Way

In recent years, we have seen a new era emerging in cruising.

There is a trend for everything to get bigger and busier, and for a cruise to be seen as an alternative to a large luxury resort, with a limitless flurry of activity.

But this is not for us

We believe there is another way to cruise. A way that is based on five generations of seafaring.

Where cabins are called cabins and ships look like ships.

Where the journey is as important as the destination.

In our world, smaller is better, and we believe in keeping the experience on board uncrowded, warm and civilised - treating passengers as guests, like the family run business we are.

It would be easy to follow the trends and go with the crowds. But we never will.

Because this is our way. The Olsen Way

It’s an exciting time to be joining the cruise industry as our beautiful fleet are now back into service and sailing around the world with our guests. We are looking to strengthen our Hotel Operations team in our Head Offices in Ipswich with a Retail Operations Manager.
Reporting to the Hotel Services and Administration Manager, this role will have overall responsibility for optimising commercial revenues through the product and services offered on board. This new role will support our Hotel Director in the delivery and monitoring of a range of onboard commercial services offered through retail. You'll support our Hotel, Marketing and Customer Service teams on the transition and delivery of a range of existing services to our customers, whilst also monitoring KPI’s and satisfaction scores.

You’ll also have the opportunity to develop and deliver new services, working with others around the business, whilst also enhancing our existing services by actively gathering feedback from internal and external sources.

You’ll ensure that Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are in place with agreed commercial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), in addition to ensuring that services are delivered within any standards / compliance framework for that service.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about delivering a great service for our guests across our ships. You'll have previous experience of launching products and services, as well as embedding them into an organisation and optimising their performance.

With a proven track record of delivering operational excellence, you’ll have experience of creating and developing business processes and previous experience of creating and executing a plan. You’ll also be able to network across teams to make sure our service projects and products are meeting the needs of our guests and brand partners, and are operationally sound and commercially viable.

You’ll have operational knowledge of retail shops and stores and experience, in continuous improvement, with the ability to review our existing services and spot opportunities for improvement.
Energetic, with a hands-on approach, you’ll be well organised with the ability to manage several projects at the same time. IT proficient, you’ll have good knowledge of MS Excel and have good analytical skills.
Self-motivated, you’ll have a proven track record of working independently. With excellent communication and influencing skills, you’ll be able to build strong working relationships and communicate effectively with people across the organisation.

Our Values:

We are caring - “We trust and care for each other, our guests and our environment”

Always deliver a warm and friendly welcome, Always make time to listen, Look out for each other’s safety, security and well-being, Strive to help protect the environment for future generations.

We are real - “We are always ourselves and respect others”

Bring our real selves to work and perform, Respect and embrace all our different personalities and cultures, Have the courage to admit when we are wrong and have the strength to act on it, Have a voice and encourage open, honest communication.

We are a team - “We are more than a team; we are a family”

Share experiences and learn from each other, Adapt, respond and pull together to drive results, Together we recognise and celebrate our achievements.
