About the Team:

The retrofit team is part of the wider Capital Works team, leading the delivery of boroughwide projects to decarbonise our resident’s homes by undertaking a range of insulation measures to improve overall energy performance of our housing stock. The team works closely with the Climate Change and Sustainability team as well as other departments across the council, external partners, and stakeholders to help meet our Net Zero Carbon target by 2030. 

About the Role:

Are you seeking a role where your expertise can improve indoor air quality, and improve a resident’s living experience by better insulation? Lambeth Council is offering a unique opportunity for a passionate individual to lead on delivering Retrofit Projects throughout the borough. If you are passionate about the climate and how improving the energy performance of homes can help contribute towards reducing carbon emissions, and, you have the skills and experience to bring together diverse stakeholders, this is the role for you.

Lambeth Council was the first London borough to declare a climate emergency and continues to show strong leadership delivering major climate programmes.

In this role you will manage and deliver Retrofit Projects on budget, time and quality, working with all stakeholders, including organisations, industry experts, and activities to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing. Proven experience and track record of undertaking a similar role is essential. 

Key responsibilities are as follows:

  • To deliver the Council’s housing Retrofit Projects, creating warmer and healthier homes for our residents, and reducing carbon emissions. 
  • Collaboration with stakeholders to align residents’ expectations by installing a range of energy efficient measures (EEMs) and enhancing the energy performance of resident’s homes.
  • Daily management of operational performance, delivery in respect of energy and sustainability programmes, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and project milestones, ensuring complete resident satisfaction.
  • Responsible for reporting to the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) and other core stakeholders.
  • Safeguarding any vulnerable residents, and implementation of CDM and Risk Management. 

To be considered for interview, your CV and supporting statement will clearly evidence:

  • Knowledge of current climate change, sustainability and the issues associated with driving cultural change.
  • Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation, statutory requirements and current housing retrofit standards, particularly PAS 2030 and PAS 2035.
  • A degree level qualification in a relevant discipline and/or relevant experience in delivering Retrofit Projects and evidence of continuing professional development. 
  • A Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Co-ordination and Risk Assessment qualification would be advantageous, or the ability to take on this training whilst in post.
  • Strong project management skills include the ability to create and execute project plans, manage timelines, and deliver results on schedule.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
