Post Title: G8 Revenues Billing and Recovery Officer

An 18-month temporary role within Revenues and Benefits has been created to provide additional resilience in the accurate and efficient delivery of Council Tax, Business Rates liability, billing, collection and Recovery.
Accountable to: Executive Director of Finance
Immediately Responsible to: Revenues Billing and Recovery Team Leaders

Location: Bury Town Hall and Agile Working.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to determine liability for Council Tax and Business Rates customers within Bury in accordance with policy and legislation. Processing discounts to maximise support to local residents and businesses, processing efficient Billing and Recovery of liability and calculate and process refunds in a timely manner.
You will provide billing, recovery and enforcement documents as required. and, with the support of others, ensure that the most appropriate and effective means of recovery is used and work with other areas within the council to support enforcement of monies due to the council. You will be committed to providing the service in accordance with legislation and internal practices, and respond to changes promptly through appropriate office procedures, computer systems and retraining.
You will ideally have experience of the accurate and appropriate recording and storage of all information relevant to your role and understand the importance of ensuring that appropriate financial procedures are adhered to and relevant performance deliverables are achieved.
You will have knowledge of new schemes, legislation and policies which apply to responsible areas and support the process and policy on the councils’ response to these areas whilst also supporting the provision of training and awareness to key stakeholders, partners, finance staff and the wider council on above areas of responsibility.

Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week. The salary is Grade 8 SCP 12-17, £26,421 to £28,770 per annum.
