Job description

Registered General Nurse (RGN) responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients within a healthcare setting. The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care to ensure optimal outcomes. The RGN collaborates with the health care team, supports patient and family education, and adheres to ethical and professional standards.

Clinical Care:

  • Perform a variety of nursing procedures, including wound care, catheterization, and medication administration.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, observing and reporting any abnormalities in patient conditions.
  • Conduct physical assessments to determine patient needs and develop appropriate care plans.

Patient Interaction:

  • Provide compassionate and patient-centered care to individuals and their families.
  • Educate patients on health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care strategies.
  • Foster open communication with patients to address concerns and provide emotional support.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Work collaboratively with other health care professionals, including physicians, therapists, and support staff.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care plans and coordinate interventions.

Documentation and Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting all aspects of care and treatment.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards in record-keeping and reporting.

Emergency Response:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in emergency procedures and crisis management.
  • Stay calm under pressure and make quick, effective decisions in critical situations.

Education and Training:

  • Provide patient and family education on health care topics, medications, and post-discharge care.
  • Stay informed about the latest medical advancements and participate in ongoing professional development.

Technology Utilisation:

  • Utilise electronic health records (EHRs) and other health care technologies for efficient and accurate documentation.
  • Competently operate medical devices and equipment relevant to nursing practice.

Adherence to Policies and Regulations:

  • Adhere to health care policies, procedures, and regulations, ensuring a safe and compliant environment.
  • Stay updated on changes in health care laws and regulations affecting nursing practice.

Time Management:

  • Efficiently manage time to prioritise and deliver quality care within established time frames.
  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.

Ethical Practice:

  • Uphold ethical standards and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Advocate for patient's rights and well-being.

Cultural Competence:

  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and competence in providing care to a diverse patient population.
  • Respect and incorporate patient's cultural preferences into care plans.

Leadership and Supervision:

  • Take on leadership roles as needed and provide supervision to other health care team members.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
