A leading legal firm with offices in Bristol and Leeds is seeking an experienced Risk and Best Practice Assistant to join their team. As a Risk and Best Practice Assistant, you will play a key role in identifying potential risks to our firm and ensuring that our policies and procedures are up-to-date and compliant with industry regulations.
The role will involve a mixture of activities and will include 1-2 days a week support of the Due Diligence team, responsible for carrying out anti-money laundering checks on clients and others.
Your new role
- Conducting risk assessments to identify potential risks to the firm, including legal, regulatory, financial, reputational, and operational risks
- Maintaining and updating policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry regulations, including Anti-Money Laundering (AML)
- Providing support and guidance to colleagues on Best Practices and risk management
- Assisting with the implementation of new policies and procedures, including conducting impact assessments and ensuring that changes are communicated effectively to all relevant stakeholders
- Conducting regular audits to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement, including reviewing client files, transaction records, and other relevant documentation
What you'll need to succeed
- 2+ years experience in Risk and Compliance from a legal or financial services background, with experience in conducting risk assessments and compliance audits
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to identify potential risks and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with a collaborative and supportive approach to working
- Flexibility to travel between the Bristol and Leeds offices as required, with occasional travel to other locations as necessary
