What you'll be doing;

Reporting to the Head of Risk, the purpose of the Risk and Resilience Manager is to work with leaders across the UK&I business to proactively identify and mitigate a range of risks which could cause significant loss or reputational damage. Ultimately this role supports the business to steer a safe course to deliver its strategic ambitions.

To do this effectively, the Risk and Resilience Manager will need to have sound risk judgement based on good knowledge or experience, matched with strong influencing and engagement skills. They will work with a wide variety of senior leaders, the Risk Committee, our Executive Committee members and Group colleagues.

Activities they will lead or be involved in include:

  • Strategic and Operational risk mapping, supporting risk identification, quantification, prioritisation and presentation to key internal senior stakeholders and Group colleagues
  • Tracking risk mitigation through liaison with risk owners across the business and presenting concise summaries to the Risk Committee and other stakeholders.
  • Ensuring an effective business resiliency framework to mitigate loss, should a risk materialise
  • Co-ordinating periodic Insurance surveys of our higher risk sites, and working with leaders to track subsequent recommendations
  • Ensuring an effective crisis management process, and using data and trends to support risk mapping
  • Being involved in wider strategic and improvement projects as a lead or project member

The role holder will also hold the following attributes:

  • A self-starter with great organisational skills
  • Engaging persona and able to make constructive relationships at all levels
  • Able to translate complicated concepts into simple models through strong verbal and written communication - able to bring risk ‘to life’ in a dynamic environment
  • Skilled at analysing technical information, data and trend identification and able to navigate digital platforms,
  • Able to deputise for the Head of Risk and professionally represent the UK&I business to Veolia Group, and other key stakeholders, including auditors and customers

What we're looking for;

  • Minimum 5 years general risk management experience, preferably in an operational setting
  • Good awareness of risks faced by large UK/I operational organisations
  • Continuous improvement ability e.g simplification of risk management processes
  • Able to communicate complex explanations and concepts in an engaging manner
  • Desirable: Suitable risk based discipline or qualifications - e.g enterprise risk management or similar, though not essential, dependant on experience and good judgement
  • Desirable - member of an accredited body e.g. IRM, IIRSM, IOSH or equivalent
